On completion of the course a final skills test is required with a flight examiner. Also, a minimum of a Part-MED Class Two medical certificate is needed (available from a CAA approved doctor).
This is the first modular training step to becoming a Commercial Pilot. Many PPL holders fly for pleasure or business.
Additional ratings can be added to this licence including Night Rating, Instrument Rating Restricted, and further aircraft types such as motor gliders and multi-engine aircraft.
The flying training starts with basic general handling and is broken down into exercise numbers from 1 to 19. Once you have mastered all the basics you will then learn to land in the circuit flying stage, working towards one of the most memorable times in your flying career, your "First Solo" flight! After some advanced handling and emergency training you will start the navigation training working towards your qualifying solo cross country flight. There will then be some revision and your final flying skills test is done in house by one of our examiners.
Once all the requirements have been met you can then apply for your Pilot's Licence.
*These are the minimum training requirements and training course length may vary.
We recommend everyone has a trial flying lesson, this also counts towards the minimum training requirements and can go in your pilot's log book. Having enjoyed your trial flying lesson and got the bug for more, you can purchase a 5 hour starter pack which includes up to 5 hours flying instruction, 5 home landing fees, all pre-flight briefings and post flight de-briefings, Book 1 PPL Training, Pilots log book, Aircraft checklist, Aircraft pilots guide and Pilots knee board. Big savings!!! All students get free membership!
The PPL can be completed in either a 2 or 4 seater aircraft.
